There is a charming, animated Christmas wallpaper featuring a snowy night and magic lights on a Christmas tree. Feel the spirit of the coming holidays in a fairy tale place near a calm forest lake.
NOTE - This program installed an "Animated Wallpaper Manager" in my registry that starts up when the computer boots. I don't see the need for it so I used CCleaner to remove it.
#24 Fubar - Don't be such a hater. I guess you must have missed the part where I was still learning the UI. Yes, I saw the brush effects but they are extremely limited (wave, blinking, glitter for Pete's sake?).
I want to be able to brush on ANY of the effects to specific areas (like snowfall in a window or downpour over the front of a waterfall to make it look like it's flowing). Even the wave brush is very limited and takes a lot of adjustment to make water look like, uh, water. There is no random ripple effect that would do that easily, just uniform sine waves. The water reflection effect can only be applied along the bottom of the image and upward, but not to a specific section in the middle or adjust the "horizon" to follow a contour in the picture.
The light rays and fog/smoke effects must be applied to the entire image and not specific areas such as thru tree cover or along the ground. A small patch of moving dense fog where a waterfall hits a pool helps add to the roiling effect at the base. Unfortunately I can't do that with the brushes that are provided. But I can brush on glittering pink hearts, if that's worth anything...
If you ever get around to using this program you will see that while it does provide a decent amount of variety it is still pretty limited in its versitility.

#25 Fubar, some people use WinZip, some use 7-Zip, etc., and some use the Windows built-in zip support. Deal with it, please. The fact remains that there is an issue with today's archive. I tried to use Windows to extract the files, as is my habit, and I was presented with an "enter password" box and had to copy the files into a folder rather than use the "extract all files" option. I later re-downloaded the archive and it extracted fine. Why? I don't know, nor do I care that much since I found a work-around the first time, but I do understand and EMPATHIZE when others have difficulty, whether or not it is their fault.
I too find it irritating when people make blanket statements about a product based only on one short encounter, but that's what you get in this self-rightous world we live in. Eat some more left-over turkey and mellow out.:^)
Installed and running with no problems on Vista Home Premium.
Limited but interesting set of animations that can be applied. The UI takes a bit of learning to get used to, but should become easier with time and practice. There was another picture animation software given away here a while back that I lost in a crash that allowed a simpler paint-on style application for each effect that seemed to give more control over where each effect was applied and its intensity (wish I could remember the name - sorry). If anyone can remember what the name was I would appreciated it as I enjoyed using that program.
The included animations and enhancements in this program seem to only allow more uniform "global" application and adjustment for each across the entire work/picture. Yes, each is variable and adjustable to a certain degree, but apparently only through each animation's control box and not directly on specific areas using a curser/tool. This will be a weakness unless I can figure out how to easily apply different effects at different intensities to various areas of each picture. Note that I said "easily" as I am still learning the UI and haven't found it yet.
Certain animations are individual and not global (for example, a flower as compared to the downpour effect) and can be moved and resized. I would prefer all effects to be resize-able and able to be applied to only portions of a picture (for example, applying the snowfall effect, which is global, to just the section of a picture that looks out a window).
This one looks to be a keeper for a while until something better comes along.
Cheers - Jon651
Please excuse my last post. I did not see the "Gallery" link till my 2nd visit to the site.
Bug
A 2 centimetre-black band shows from the left to the middle of the screen in the left hand corner at the preview and when setting the wallpaper in Windows 7. I don't know if these guys can fix this issue on a Sunday, so I suppose we'll have to wait till this is fixed in another version.
