This is a 3 phase installation (I'll do a little bit more and different than the the readme.txt tells you, but you will like the result):
PHASE 1:
a)Extract the 'setup.exe' from the GAotD-download (.zip)
b)Run (admin) 'setup.exe'
c)Save DB9_Prof_free_en.msi to be found in C:\ or the location you specified.
Note: The 'setup.exe' (step a) from this phase) can only be succesfully executed today !! (Give Away of the Day -rules).
PHASE 2:
a)Go to http://www.paragon-software.com/registration/db9pro.html
and register there. Use a (disposable) mailaddress where you can get a reply with the registration data you will need (you get a reply within minutes; check your spamfolder too).
b)Store the registrationdata from the mail together with "PHASE 1/step c"
Note: the url at step a) in this phase might be open only today, so do it today !! (Paragon rules)
PHASE 3:
a)Install 'DB9_Prof_free_en.msi' from "PHASE 1/step c"
b)When asked for, supply the registration data from "PHASE 2/step b",
unless you skipped PHASE 2. In that case you have to hit the "get serial-button", otherwise don't use the button.
Now Paragon DB9 Pro is installed and regged.
The Result:
Because you saved 'DB9_Prof_free_en.msi' from "PHASE 1/step c" and the reg.data from "PHASE 2/step b)" you will be able to install Paragon DB 9 PRO anytime you want by repeating PHASE 3.
Enjoy this product. I certainly like it very much. This is the PRO version. April 8th we had the personal version.
I'll be away the rest of the day, but I hope many people will be helped with these instructions.

Mike,
Backup software can either make a duplicate copy of selected files or your entire hard drive. You select what it is that you want backed up and it can either save it to another hard drive or CDs/DVDs. It also compresses it where possible so that it takes up less space than the original. Another nice feature, is that once you make a full backup you can schedule it to make backups of only things that have changed since then (again to another hard drive , a CD, or DVD(s)). Should a hard drive die or a file get corrupted you can then restore this information. If a backed up hard drive dies you would replace the hard drive and then boot up into the back up program. You tell the program where the backed up data or image is , where you want it to go to and depending on the amount that has to be restored, minutes or an hour or so later your new blank, hard drive is now the duplicate of the one that died saving you days of aggravation in re-installing your operating system, all your programs and all of your data.
Hope that helps make it clearer.

Smooth download, installation, registration, and program access on Vista x32 OS.
Here's a detailed, full-featured, one-on-one comparison of today's Paragon GiveAway, versus the June 4, 2009 GOTD Giveaway for the Paragon Drive Backup Personal Edition SE, as well as a 3rd link for a side-by-side table comparison of all three of their backup products (the FREE, Personal, and Pro editions).

I've been waiting with baited breath for this one. I currently use Acronis (or did), but that software is too dependent on the absolute integrity of RAM (If you have a flaky RAM chip, Acronis will absolutely puke; with each and every backup failing during verification, and therefore be useless).
I've tried and successfully used Paragon Drive Backup (Express version) and (because I tend to be a bit reckless with my system) restored a Vista Biz box on more than one occasion.
But, here's my own caveat: I have 3 HDDs running 3 Operating Systems (XP is my primary, Vista Business, and Win 7 RC). I wanted to test the integity of PBD (express) on the Vista drive, so I did a full system backup, and attempted to restore using its onboard Boot-time facility. Result: BSOD. In fact, repeated BSODs. However, I was able to restore the Vista drive completely and with no adverse effects from within my XP installation.
Now I realize that not everyone has multiple hard drives and operating systems installed, and I'm not going to arbitrarily thumb it up here, but PDB did what it said it would do (albeit in a round-a-bout fashion). It could just be my hardware, or it could be because the moon was full that night, or it could be simply a booger in the 'express' version, but the net result of my controlled test was ultimately a positive one.
I intend to back up my Vista Drive once again before this GOTD ends, and report the results.
I'll leave it up to you individually to determine for yourself if this is a worthwhile download. As for me, it absolutely is.

Got the serial through email quickly. The program can back up entire drives, partitions and (a surprise for me) regular files and folders. Can restore individual files if needed.
Another interesting feature is the ability to work with remote CD / DVD burners (the option can be selected while installing the application).
