Not a bad app in my view (for sure it's worth much more than the current low rating): supports almost any kind of drives out there with filtering capabilities....and turned out to be quite quick to scan my system.

Yes it's true, Ashraf is right... but don't remember any GAOTDs of this genre sporting this feature...how about you dudes? So this is not a deal breaker for me as a GAOTD (but obviously without this feature I would never spend 60 bucks for a tool like this)!

Yes! there is a free tool called IsoPuzzle. It is very powerful. It will try to read sector by sector and build up an ISO image using all readable sectors. If there is a read error, it will repeat trying to read this sector many times. This way you'll finally get many data from your cd/dvd rescued, even if windows won't read anything and header data are lost or damaged. But this can take a lot of time depending on the degree of damage.

If you like to have really raw access and ignore even read errors, IsoPuzzle provides this option to you, so you can even copy sectors with read errors. This will be especially useful to get back some parts of text files.

But there is more! You now that some optical drives are better than others in reading data portions from damaged discs. At any time you can save your results, then connect to another optical drive and CONTINUE recovering the same media from another drive, increasing your chances to get your data back.

With this tool I could recover big parts of my music collection stored on heavily damaged CDs. I guess it will help you too.

Found Easy Drive Data Recovery 3 on my computer from the last time it was offered and ran it again today and I think it's an absolute little beauty, the preview window is exceptional in the way it presents the information depending on the type of file, the list of files is separated into type, for example image, multimedia etc. It has one drawback you cannot run it from outside Windows.
When I had a major computer problem a few years ago and it was imperative that I remained on the Internet I bought myself an old cheap laptop with a CPU that was molasses-based instead of silicon, or that's the way it feels.
Now I use it as my emergency machine and programs of this type go onto it. Any hard drive with problems is popped into a caddy and attached via USB to this old machine. If I live long enough for this machine to actually get working an attempt is made to repair the problem, but at times it is touch and go.
As a recovery program you will be hard pressed to beat this for ease-of-use and ability, get it.
