Hello guys!
This is a clone of our commercial product
http://www.paragon-software.com/home/hfs-windows/
Today you can have it for free.
Sure, the product's name is "HFS+ for Windows", and version of the product itself is 9.0 :-)
Thanks you all for your input! And thanks bobbie jones for full list of supported OSes :-)
>> Will someone please tell me what this program is supposed to do? *exceedingly puzzled*
Well, as is explained in the product description, it allows you to access MacOS partitions when you're in Windows :-)
>> Downloaded the software from the link on this page. No “Get free serial” button during install and product shows up a version 8.0 on harddrive.
Just checked it, and everything is absolutely fine, there's a button "Get free serial" and it's version 9. It's possible that you have version 8 of this product on your PC, and when you try to install version 9 it actually launches installer of version 8. Please uninstall old version from your PC first, and then version 9 will install correctly.
Great app!
Thanks!
I have to worry about those who think there's nothing on a Mac but jpg files. The users who want to download it just because it's free are alarming, too.
Tip #1: If you can't understand the description of what the application does you probably don't need it.
Maybe your techie friend (who keeps telling you to stop installing every free thing you run across on the internet) would have a use for it.
Tip #2: If you think the only valuable data on a Mac are some generic graphic files you probably don't have any use for this application.
Wow. Hard to believe some of the posts, and even harder to believe some of the ratings.
Without this, or some similar utility, you can NOT read Mac formatted disks on a machine running Windows. This product allows you to read and write Mac formatted disks on a machine running Windows. Nothing more, nothing less. Why is this so difficult to understand? No, it's not for Macs, or an iPad, or a Linux machine, or a toaster.
If you're running the current version of Bootcamp, you should already be able to look at your Mac partition from a Windows boot without this software - there's a built-in driver in Bootcamp for that.
To those who insist on commenting "Make it portable" to every offering made here, get a life. You want to make a system level driver portable? Seriously? Get out of your Mom's basement, be in the sunshine, get a girlfriend or boyfriend. SOMETHING.
Paragon makes wonderful products, and this one is no exception. I just wish they'd offer their CampTune product (for modifying partitions on a Bootcamp volume) here again.
