#1 What you consider bad is the norm in most cases. I can think of a lot of programs that ask you to reboot after installing. All video converters are resource demanding, and just because you hit CTRL/ALT and delete to bring up your Task Manager and the performance shows 100% it doesn't mean it's a resource hog. Quite contraire it just shows that your processor is using all of its abilities to process what ever it is you're doing. Show me one batch converter that doesn't convert everything to the same output settings. If you have a seven second lag try defragmenting your drive and cleaning out your junk files.
I converted several scenes from a favorite western (About 60 MB's in about three minutes) with great quality being the result. I had it loaded onto my iPod in another minute. I think you should take the word BAD that you so often use and use Picky On MY Part because rarely are your bads really and truly bad. By the way, my program opens in 1.3 seconds (Yes I timed it). Thanks GOTD for another great offer.

#20, you obviously have little knowledge of iPod devices. You are not limited to watch video only on the iPod's screen.

For several years, most iPod's have a TV out facility. You just need a special lead that connects directly from the iPod to any TV or monitor with AV sockets. If you encode your iPod videos with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, you can watch these in a quality similar or higher to normal TV transmissions.

Great for watching movies in vacation homes or hotels. You can get around 75 full length movies on a iTouch 120GB!

Despite the great reputation Sothink has earned with their Flash/Shockwave software, I'd strongly suggest backing up your system before install. Their iPod Video Converter install includes AviSynth, ffdshow, Real, a few Direct Show video filters and so on. ffdshow does not run on every system, & can muck things up if/when you're one of the unlucky ones. The DS filters, code from Real, & AviSynth despite recent file dates are mostly older versions, & may conflict with other software. Ideally you should install those sorts of apps individually, using the latest versions... that way they're not only available to all your software, but won't disappear when you uninstall any single app.

Sothink is not alone in their approach, bundling other, needed apps & code libraries so you only have one download & install -- in fact that's a big part of the problem, since you can have 2 or more packages dueling for control of what video-related files you have & use. Because ffdshow is included -- which is reportedly good software *when it works* -- I again strongly suggest backing up before install.

Otherwise Sothink iPod Video Converter uses the very common ffmpeg for encoding, has 6 files destined for your system32 (or sysWow64) folder, separately includes VSFilter.dll, the Matroska Splitter, ffdshow, & AviSynth installs, adds Real codec files to the Common Files folder, and includes only Apple output profiles stored in separate xml files.
