I only recently searched for a free DTP package. It ain't a pick-nick out there!
Today's Giveaway downloaded flawlessly. Setup.exe is a compressed executable - by default it extracts to C:\ :s). When the extraction is done, you will get a pop-up with a serial (license). Copy it! THEN you will get a file Spring Publisher.msi. Install that msi file.
When the program starts: chose "Upgrade to Pro" option upper right corner. Enter your license code.
Two DTP titles I kept:
- PagePlus Starter Edition
http://www.serif.com/desktop-publishing-software/
- Scribus 1.4.0
http://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Download
Of the two, Scribus is the most buggy one but also the one I (sporadically) use to design flyers.
PagePlus Free gets good reviews to, and is certainly more stable. But it comes with "Offerings"-screens... I don't like them, but it's NOT cripling the software. It's just an extra OK-button to push.
SpingPublisher looks like a VERY nice addition to the two. I did not encounter any bugs. Interface looks really simple yet it is complete.
What I espcecially like is the tabbed interface which contains all the basic editing options you need. It also has a free version!

I'm happy with today's giveaway - thanx!
And... Peace! :P

Installed and registered very easily on Win 7 (32 bit). The program has a very simple interface and is very easy to use, but is very basic for a so called pro version. Many of the features found on "real" DTP programs are missing, and you can't down load templates from the website, but since it's free it's not to shabby. It's okay of you want to produce a quick newsletter or similar but wouldn't but for more serious publications I don't think it would be up to the job. I've played around with it and would score this 5/10.

Registration is its own puzzle. Go to New Project, click on Template Library, click on Web Template Store and then click on Download and a box comes up asking for license code. Don't bother putting in license now; click on 'Without a license code?' and it takes you to the registration box where you can (with a Ctrl 'V') insert the license code. It will tell you that it is fully licensed. But you still can't download any of the web templates. Weirdest registration ever!

Dear users,
SpringPublisher Pro doesn't allow to download additional templates from within the interface. Still you can get a full set of templates by clicking a special link in the bottom of the software description.
Double click on any particular template to use it.
We hope this will be of help.

Regarding registration issue:
if you do not see "Update to Pro" button, most probably the registration information is remained on your PC from the last GOTD campaign. Web templates download won't be available anyway - you need to get the full set by clicking the link in the bottom of description.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
