I actually installed and then uninstalled this program. I found it to be
incredibly confusing, when I've used the program "Everything" by Voidtools for several years now. It seems to be the very fastest I've found yet. And to top it off, it's "freeware". Link below.

A reasonably good and fast search files utility, but it could be more powerful.
The main problem is that there is no way to specify several search rules ORed together. In other words, when you add a new rule, it is implicitly ANDed with the previous rules. For example, you cannot search for files with the extension ".JPG" OR ".JPEG", and as a consequence you cannot find all your jpeg files in one operation (although you can use the following rules: "File extension begins with JP" and "file extension ends with G", but it's not very intuitive and it can lead to false positives).
Also, IMO, the program should be able to search also for text in the audio file tags, or search for strings in the human readable form of the file type (for example, search for "image" in file type should find all files with the word "image" in the file type, such as "jpeg image", "gif image"...). Some support for regular expressions would be nice too.
Finally, the explorer window that shows the result of the search is not a standard explorer window, and you cannot customize it. It shows the files in details view (with 3 columns: File Name, Directory and Last Modified date). There is no way to view the files as icons, or to change the columns, and the right-click context menu is not the complete explorer context menu.
Good points are the availability of the X64 version and the nice and easy GUI.

Yesterday I did a huge 'clean-up' of some of my old disks and relocated a lot of files to new folders.
Maybe I did too much cleaning because this morning I had some problems finding some of my files.
So I used the built-in search and found them of course.
BUT todays give-away is able to main a list of previous seaches so that I don't have to do them again tomorrow when I'm lost again - yeah, I'm old :-)

I've done only rudimentary tests, but this does seem to work well. I've also read the 30 page manual and find it very impressive. If nothing else, it is refreshing to see a product that has no apparent spelling or grammar errors in the product itself, the website, or the documentation. If the product is as well made as the manual, this should be a very helpful program, especially for XP users.
I especially like the ability to search the exif information in image files. I wish (product improvement suggestion) that it could also provide searches based on elements of music file tags.

Not as fast as I would have liked, but it gets there, and it found a pdf file I had lost in the depths of one of my drives. The rules are comprehensive, but I was dismayed to find I can't search on just one drive. I have many thousands of data files on one of my six HDD's which I will never need to search, plus I will never need to search C:\, yet the program insists on searching all drives whereas I would only ever want to search one drive. Get rid of that limitation and the program would be a keeper for me. I see some don't like the ad on the database button. There's is a simple solution; click it once and find out what it does, never click it again. ;)
