Migrate OS to SSD tool can work with any hard disk regardless of its type. It is called "to SSD" because SSD drives are usually quite small and its hard to migrate large system partition with a lot of data to SSD in simple way.

Doubtless this will be up to Paragons usual high standard, but personally I use MaxBlast which is free however, it does require that a Maxtor or Seagate drive is on the system.
With regard to SSD drives does anyone know what the expected lifespan is nowadays. A few years ago it was considered too short to be the main drive.
Portability
I write Windows software programs; all my programs are portable, this simply means that they do not need information from the registry to be able to run. Hence, they could be installed on a USB stick and be used on a number of computers. However, transferring them from A USB stick to another computer does not necessarily mean they will run, as they still can be copy protected.
It is possible to protect my programs from copying without using the registry, however this does mean that to start my program takes approximately 3 times as long as if the registry was used, approximately 3 thousandths of a second compared to 1 thousandths of a second.
Even though a program is portable it does not mean it does not use the registry, it could use it for housekeeping, personally I don't use it, I use INI files in the interests of system stability.
The fact that they are portable does not mean that the system runs more rapidly, or that they consume less system resources.
So please, no more nonsense claiming reduced resource use, nor increase in system speed just because a program is portable!

In response to Anna (Paragon Software) in Comment #4
I'm sure you intended to say...
"Yes, it works with Windows XP, Vista, 7 (both x32 and x64)."
... unless you happen to have a very rare copy of Windows that runs on a 63-bit system? (LOL - Just joking.)
But seriously, folks...
Thank you, Anna, for being here to respond to our comments - to me that's an indication of true professionalism, which is reflected in the quality of products that your company has previously offered here.
And thank you as well for your generous gift today! I've been meaning to replace my notebook hard drive, and this software should be quite helpful in the process of migrating my current installation of Windows to my new drive.

To perform migration you need to have source drive and target (new) drive both directly connected to the PC.
Also please note that Migrate OS tool copies only system partition + System Reserved partition if exists. Other partitions (with data) are not copied. If you use larger drive for Migration you can use one of the following options:
1) Migrate System partition without resize and create new partition for data on the unallocated space of the target drive.
2) Enable option to use all available space on target drive for system partition during migration. Then you will get system partition size = 2000GB
