This is Major update of the program which has been rewritten from scratch. The new version is extremely fast since use Multi-core CPU and GPU.
It has Virtual Groups so you may separate program list in groups to make it tidy and get fast access. This Virtual Groups are foldable. A group can be minimized with a single click! And programs within a group become visible when you place the mouse cursor over it as result you may see only most used programs.
This new version has native 64 bit support for all modern Windows.
The "Single-Click Launch" was improved so you may make "Main in Folder" for any deep program of the menu.

#5 the freeware you are referring to is Classic Shell which has been mentioned here on many occasions.

I use Windows 7 x64 and I like this look better than the default I have but I like the fact that Windows 7 default has my most common/recent programs listed when I click the start menu.
I installed this on a brand new laptop and got this error about 45 minutes after installation: http://imgur.com/O9tc8
I am surprised at what little info is on the products home page. I would have more pics and a video tutorial of the look and options found by right-clicking the program's icon in the system tray.
To address some comments,
@#2 umaxy - this won't change anything forever. It launches during start-up and runs in your system tray. You can right click and exit or uninstall the program anytime and see your normal menu.
@11, Chris - Spam is something you get in email. It sounds like you have adware installed from some other program. (This is clean) Run Malwarebytes, Spyboy Search & Destroy and SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition.

OK - downloaded, installed, and registered without issue on Vista. Gotta say, I didn't know I missed the XP Start Menu until I used this program. Really cool!!! A lot easier to use for longer lists of programs than the Vista one. I like it! A keeper.

This GAOTD is a nice and pretty useful tool to replace the terrible Windows 7 standard program list.
Thumbs UP from me!!
BETTER FREEWARE ALTERNATIVES:
a) CLASSIC SHELL ==> XP start menu for Vista & Windows 7
This amazing tool adds a classic start menu for Windows 7, a toolbar for Windows Explorer and supports an incredible number of smaller features (see screenshots below for more details).

b) TASKBAR CLASSIC START MENU

As for launching programs with a single mouse click, you can use these excellent freeware apps without any hassle:

And finally, to quickly access to folders, files, programs and links, take a look at this awesome free tool called "Quick Cliq":
