I used this one time to make a wedding album for a friend and his bride, It was easy to use and very user friendly, and if I may say so, the album came out great, this is an easy application to use for beginners. However with that being said, I know those who are more advanced in using more advanced programs will probably vote down on this program, but for those reading this who arent real familiar with programs that do this sort of thing, I think this will be a good one to have until you can get something to better your needs in the future. Thanks GAOTD and Wondershare for this.

Sorry, but I get a little irritated with software developers who promise that which they then don't deliver. As with this from Wondershare, because DVD Slideshow Builder Standard does not offer the ability to turn slides into a Hollywood-type movie experience.
I've been making slideshow-based DVDs for years, ever since Microsoft's astonishingly good Photostory was released, one of the greatest products Redmond ever created but never knew. So it abandoned it. Yet Photostory offered (and still does) the definitive Hollywood movie-making experience, including the ability to:
* pan and zoom ('Ken Burns Effect');
* determine how long each individual slide should be kept on screen;
* decide how long a transition should last from one slide to another -- say, a slo-oooo-w dissolve or fade-out and fade-in, or a fast jump-cut.
No Hollywood-style movie -- unless it was shot 100 years ago -- has static camera positions, fixed length dissolves and fixed length scenes.
But sadly, that's all that Wondershare's 'Standard' DVD slideshow builder offers. Yes, it's easy to operate, but then so it should be, seeing as how so many processes are automated and not within the user's choice or control.
Though it may just possibly appeal to any who think oh-my-gosh-wow, let's use dozens of special effects and transitions because, er, they're there -- regardless of the fact that there's nothing worse than having to suffer through someone's home-made DVD slideshow consisting of curling, flashing wipes and diamond fade-outs and shuttering fade-ins: good God, when did you ever see on TV or the cinema any movie looking like that? -- this Standard version is nothing like as 'Hollywood style' as Wondershare's more expensive Deluxe version. And even that still doesn't trump the free Windows Photostory 3.
Unfortunately, PS was created in an era when the notion of burning to a home DVD player didn't even exist (it was written 10 years ago) and there are reports that it won't work nowadays on Windows 7.
But as I have Windows XP on one computer and Windows Vista on another, I have no problems with it, and using the many work-arounds available from numerous Windows Photostory Internet forums, it continues to be perfectly possible to create the exact 'Hollywood-style movie experience' with Photostory 3 that, sadly, the Wondershare Standard Slideshow Builder (though not Wondershare's Deluxe Slideshow Builder) doesn't provide.
* For those new to 'slideshow building', this link is to Microsoft's Photostory 3 download page (5Mb download):

YouTube also has a variety of video tutorials and there are, as mentioned, various Photostory online forums. Even if you decide not to bother with Photostory 3, gaining an insight into what it does, and the standards it set -- standards that no commercial software has ever bettered -- is useful.

This is the standard version ($39.95). It lacks several important features, which you get for free with Windows Moviemaker. E.g. you can't set the duration of each photo, there are no transition effects, and no way to pan or zoom. If you want such basic effects, you need to buy the "deluxe model" at $59.95. For furter comparison, use the link to Wondershares homepage.
